What started as a small, family-owned business and labor of love in 1982, is virtually unchanged today at Love At First Bite Catering. Current owners, John & Stacy LaBrake were involved early on in assisting original owners, Cindy & Steve Vatcher, in their vision to bring great food, great service, and great prices to the Orange County and Long Beach communities. When the Vatchers made the difficult decision to move their family out-of-state, it was a natural transition for John & Stacy to take over, and continue the company's legacy. Now, more than 35 years after LAFB first opened its doors, our mission is still at the forefront of how we do business.


Styles and visions may change, but delicious fresh cuisine is our culinary standard. Every dish is prepared and presented for each individual occasion, and each uniquely-styled event is a thrill to our creative talents. From classic traditional fare, to upscale culinary trends, Love At First Bite's commitment to this standard is top priority.

John + Stacy LaBrake

John + Stacy became the primary owners of Love at First Bite Catering in 2003. They have since grown the business into one of Orange County's premier caterers while maintaining a family-owned values company.

Donnie Bruyn
Service Captain + Action Chef

After 45 years as a private restaurateur for The Cannery and Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, Donnie joined the LAFB team to provide excellent service and training. He's been featured in Orange Coast Magazine, OC Business Journal, American Express Newsletter, and Taste of America. He was trained in wines by food critic Robert Balzer of the LA Times, and received a medal and prestigious position on Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Ball. His experience as a chef, service trainer and staff motivator ensures that our service staff is beyond the level of excellence for our clients.

Meredith Woodson
Senior Event Director

Meredith has over 20 years' experience in the event planning industry. Starting as an entertainer and music educator, she made the leap into planning and coordination first with a production company in San Diego, then relocated to Orange County. Here, she expanded experience in both corporate and private parties, but has specialized in non-profit and fundraising events. Now, she focuses on creating fabulous menus to go along with stand-out weddings & events, utilizing her knowledge of unique event sites to set the perfect mood.

Kristen Parrish
Catering Coordinator

Kristen Parrish is a chef, nutritionist, adventurer and a mom of five. She specializes in many culinary niches and international foods. She enjoys an active lifestyle - travel, surfing, yoga, climbing, hiking and some more extreme adventures such as jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and scuba diving. Kristen is delighted to be part of the family here at LAFB, combining her knowledge of food, nutrition, and organizational skills to coordinate events and assist customers in every part of their planning process. Her passion is to help others learn about and enjoy healthy food and a healthy lifestyle.

Susan Wilson
Corporate Sales Director

Susan is our resident Southern Belle. She has been with LAFB for 5 years, with over 25 years of sales experience. You can find her out and about introducing new clients to our food and service.  Susan makes each of our customers feel like family with a wonderful catering experience from start to finish. If you know her, you love her. She brings sunshine wherever she goes!

Sue Prescott
Event Stylist + Venue Specialist

Sue Prescott has had a passion for entertaining and producing exceptional events for over 25 years. She joined Team LAFB in 2004, and now represents our team as a Venue Liaison, as an Ambassador for the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, and a strong community advocate. Sue actively works with local event sites that share our commitment to excellence, and to build awareness of their respective businesses and brands. It is part of our mission to continually seek partnerships with those who share our desire to create distinguished and memorable events - if that's you, contact Sue.  

Victor Acosta

Victor has been part of Team LAFB for 21 years! He is our kitchen manager, lead chef, and the honorary "Grill Master" around here. You can find him pumping out multiple menus in our kitchen every day, playing with new recipes, or cooking live at your event if you have a specialty action station!

Angelina Galeana

Angelina has been cooking with Team LAFB for nearly 20 years! She is a master at pastry and loves making beautiful custom pieces. Her love for international foods keeps us all drooling over exciting new flavors!

Ariana Galeana
Operations Coordinator

Ari has worked on Team LAFB in almost every capacity. She wears a lot of hats around here! After starting as a server, she quickly moved into our Operations department where she works non-stop behind the scenes on all the details that go into executing each and every event--even doing the beautiful calligraphy on our menu signage!

Karen Gonzalez
Production Captain / Lead Server

Karen joined our team 6 years ago as a delivery driver, she then became a server, and staff trainer. Now she is not only one our Lead Servers who supervises our crew on large events, but also our Production Captain.

She takes her experience in the field and relays that to our kitchen & coordinators with thoughtful planning of equipment, on-site logistics, and beautiful food station displays. She's the brain behind the scenes--so you know you're in good hands when you see her show up at your event!
